; ; file: 00_Trip_Notes.txt ; FEW 4/14/08 ; Notes on the 'Adventure Cruise' aboard the Lady Washington sailing ship out of Sausalito harbor Sunday, 4/13/08 Adventurers: Leader: Linda Coughenour, driver: Fred Wahl, ex coast gaurd reservist: Richard Atcheson We took the 'Adventure' cruise instead of the 'Battle' Cruise. In the adventure version folks get to volunteer to help the crew with the from on deck rigging, etc. Battle cruise features cannon fire fighting between the two tall ships Hawaiian Chietan and the Lady Washington. The day of our cruise the 'Chieftan' was down due to an 'overrotated' prop from the day, Saturday before. We did sail the Lady Washington which was our first choice anyway. It was the first warm weekend in a long while and it was reported temperatures hit the 80s that day. Among our younger passengers was a 'Captain Jack' and a 'Davie Jones' in costume. Linda C. did volunteer and helped with the foresail setting rigs. Fred did get permission from the Captain to smoke his tobacco pipe, but had to keep downwind "Lee" side while so doing. And of course Rich just soaked it all in. We all took pictures. These are the best of mine. The Captain, in Bowler hat, just sailed the ship very slowly on that lazy day 10am to 1pm. For on the next day they were to leave the bay area and sail the ocean north.
