I have placed a Dolby Digital 5.1 encoded WMA file here to demonstrate WogWoe's ability to mix to the Dolby Digital standard. The file is named 01_ParadeOfTheCharioteers .. .wma . This piece demonstrates good subwoofer bass using the LFE ability of Dolby Digital 5.1. It plays back using MS Windows Media Player 11. I have also demonstrated that I can burn Audio DVDs as slide-show movies with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround music background. The software tool used to do this was Nero 8 Ultra Edition with Dolby Digital 5.1 Creator. A 2 1/2 hour DVD slide show was made containing 52 jpg slides and 22 DolbyDigital 5.1 songs. Image generation and DVD burning took about 2 3/4 hour on a Pentium 4. These DVDs play back on Home Theater DVD players. Earlier we had proved that we could mix similar source audio tracks down and encode them into DTS (Digital Theater System) 6 channel surround sound and then burn the resulting files to audio CDs. The tool used here was SurCode DTS-CD pro. These CDs only play in properly equiped/decoded DVD playing systems. (FEW 2/1/08) You can find free 'streaming downloadable' WMA Pro 9 (MP3-like) soundfiles which will play using Microsoft Windows Media Player 11 on subdirectories ./CSB_practice and ./Rimper here. Send me an email on how they playback on your PC system. (to: fred@wogwoe.com ). Sound cards such as Turtle Beach Montego DDL can pass these WMA files to your A/V receiver/amp using Optical Digital S/PDIF cables to produce Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. They sound great on Home Theater equivalent playback Systems using full bandwidth speakers and a Subwoofer. (FEW 1/31/08) I have put 36 MP3 and WMA files with various sound system test files into subdirectory ./SoundTests below this directory. There are 2 HIGH Frequency MP3 files, 17 BASS MP3 files, 2 PINKNOISE files, 14 SUBWOOFER WMA files, and 1 Dolby5p1 channel voicing test WMA file. Files of type WMA may contain Dolby5.1 with a SUBWOOFER LFE channel. Use these to test your audio system. MS Multimedia Player 11 can handle these. (FEW 1/24/08) I have moved my Technical Links, Notes and Audio Papers PDF and DOC files to the subdirectory ./PapersLinksNotes These document my research on recent digital audio technologies such as WMA, Dolby Digital, DTS(Digital Theater System) and the use of the encoding tool DTS-CD Pro. Some Surround Educational Links can be found using file: SurroundSearch.doc or .pdf (FEW 1/26/08) An example of a project to rip and clean-up songs from a friends old Cupertino Highschool 'A' Band LPs conducted by Bob Gomez and convert them to MP3s and CDs can be found on the "hidden" Wogwoe subpage: www.wogwoe.com/Rimper MP3s so created may get posted on Bill's music non-profit webpage under development: www.rimpermusicsharing.org CDs may become available for sale here. (FEW 1/18/08) Recording, Mixdown of Mastering of a friends garage band can be found on a "hidden" Wogwoe subpage: www.wogwoe.com/Zepeda This shows WogWoe Productions ability to record at your site and produce demo songs and CD for your groups review and use. The "re-storation" of the University of Santa Clara's Fight song can be found on "CSB Homework" link page. I believe the one now in use by the school is "SCUfsdrumrollReverbGreg.mp3". On the "Idiot's Club" link page comical audio files may be found. Try "BlueMoon.mp3", "Cave_crowd.mp3", "breakfast.mp3" or "schonchin_butte.mp3" for some belly laughs. >> As mentioned below most of the songs located here are recordings of the Cupertino Symphonic Band. Recent examples are: files: 0_CSBens... and 0_CSBspr06... File 0_CSBspr06_Dies_Irae.mp3 is a recording of four satellite groups (N,E,S & W) playing towards a central group. This will play in Dolby surround but has not yet been mixed to Dolby 5.1 San Jose Saxophone Christmas work is also represented. Some other interesting recent projects: A) A custom cell phone 'Ringtone' for Motorola SLVR file: 0_A_Ringtone_Wog.mp3 B) I did the recording and CD for the Corte Madera Town Band 10th Anniversary Concert. files: 0_CMTB_11_Chad and _12_Latin.. C) The over 30-years-active professional Jazz group "Tuesday Night Live" which practices Tues nites at Menlo Atherton High School asked me to do some multitrack recording for them. They intend to mix the results down to create a "demo CD" for advertising for dance gigs. file: 0_TuesNiteLive.mp3 is some raw session sounds from them. 0_TNL_Mix10a.wav is a 'mix' done to my ear. D) In April of 2005 the Milpitas Sunnyhills Neighborhood group sponsored their first outdoor 'Drum Festival' night. I did the location stereo recording of this event and several files are posted here for your pleasure file: 0_DrumEvnt.mp3 the whole thing! 0_DrumA, ..B, ..C.mp3 various shorter selections. E) I was asked by a dear friend and his wife who is a piano instructor to record and create CDs as 'Progress Reports' for 3 of her students. The parents wanted these CDs to send to the Grandparents. I found 'professional' recordings of the pieces the students played for this recital so that everyone could listen and learn by comparing styles. files: 1s_.. are the student's recorded versions and 1P_ are professional's playing the same music. By the way, these students were 10 years and under! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ; ; FEW, 10/21/2001 ; Hi, my name is Fred Wahl. I have put these *.MP3 sound files here, which I and my assistants have recorded from live concerts, for your free use and enjoyment. Please be warned that these files in general are LARGE. They are MPEG Layer-3 Fraunhofer IIS encoded 128 Kbps stereo encoded/compressed files (11.0:1 compression). These are complete stereo song files, not samples. File sizes here vary from about 1 to 10 Megabytes in size. You will find that download times are very long if you only have use of a 56k modem or slower. A more enjoyable use comes to those who have access to a DSL or Cable Modem or faster means of download. To test your download times try the smaller file: 'AlmaMater.mp3' which is almost 1 Megabyte to see if you have acceptable download speed. If you want short sample files please visit the Cupertino Symphonic Band site below. While the site is under development you may search the 'CD artwork examples' page using the file name as a clue and searching the CD song lists to get more info about each piece. It would be fun to recieve some email from those of you who use these files. It would be cool to know where they travel to. So feel free to send me comments or questions at fred@wogwoe.com. Also, if you or your friends make money from the use of these files please consider sending a US tax deductable donation to the organization: The Cupertino Symphonic Band P. O. Box 2692 Cupertino, CA 95015-2692 web: www.netview.com/csb email: csb1@pacemail.com announcement phone line: 408-262-0471 Moneys recieved by them will allow them to continue their music-oriented community service. Most of the recordings here are of that group (the CSB). I also ask that if you cause these files to be moved to another site or server, that you copy this file and put this file on the same directory or server so that new users can read this note. If your organization or band is in need of a recordist/engineer capable of the quality of work shown here, please contact me. Thanks and enjoy, Fred Wahl Owner, WogWoe Productions fred@wogwoe.com 10/21/2001 ----------------------------------------------------------------------
